Café Maddalena features fresh Mediterranean cuisine, with flavors from Spain, France, Italy and North Africa.
Chef/owner Brett LaMott cooks in an open kitchen overlooking the rustic wood paneled dining room and small wine bar. His seasonal menus and daily specials use locally sourced and imported ingredients chosen for their quality, authenticity and freshness.
The wine list includes great value labels from small, artisanal producers. Each bottle is selected to compliment the cuisine and represent the diverse varietals found in the western Mediterranean.
The distinctive food and warm ambiance of Café Maddalena make this bistro a favorite destination for locals and tourists alike. Reservations are recommended.
...I can still say with confidence that they are the best
fine dining restaurant in all of Siskiyou county and
definitely deserve five stars. Btw the rest of the
restaurants that have the same rating don't hold a flame next to Cafe Maddelana's.
This place is a gem. I have eaten here about 10 times over the years, mostly as celebratory family dinners. To put this restaurant in perspective, we will drive from an hour away because this is the best fine dining restaurant within a 100 mile radius of Redding, CA.
What a wonderful way to say good-bye to 2013!
We ate here on New Year's Eve and everything was
superb (the ambience, the service and especially the food).
I also appreciated that we weren't ripped off because it
was NYE — our four course meal was $35.00,
more than fair for what we got.
Fabulous! Very good service and innovative dishes with
local fresh ingredients. We had fresh local morels and porcini mushrooms over light fettuccine Alfredo with
fresh peas. We could not have been more pleased.
Good deserts as well.
The servers are excellent and the food is even better. I live here and go often. I have never, ever had a poor or poorly presented meal. Cafe Maddalena is known as the best restaurant in Redding, as well as Siskiyou county.
The food was amazing and the service was great! I highly recommend this place but you do need reservations because it's small and very popular!
I don't even know where to start with how much we love this restaurant! We have a vacation rental in Dunsmuir and send people there all of the time, based on our experience dining throughout the year. Every guest has thanked us profusely, some saying they'd heard similar kudos from others, and knew they had to check it out...
If you ever find yourself traveling interstate 5 between Portland and San Francisco, I highly recommend planning your drive to pass by Dunsmuir, California around dinner time when Cafe Maddalena is open. How a restaurant of this quality manages to thrive in a tiny mountain town off the main highway is testament to how truly amazing the food is.
I live in the Bay Area and consider myself a foodie. When I traveled spent a night in Dunsmuir I did not expect to find SF quality good. When I saw 4.5 stars on Yelp I assumed
that it was 4.5 stars based on a "middle-of-no-where" scale. Boy was I wrong. I'd give Cafe Maddalena 5 stars even
if it was in the heart of SF!
We were there in early September and called ahead for a table on the patio, a beautiful garden setting under a grape arbor. The food was equally delightful. Fresh and imaginative! The service was first class. We will return!
Amazing, go there if you can! Delicious food (I had the tuna, my wife the fettuccine), romantic atmosphere having dinner in the garden under pergola with grapes, cute town.
"This restaurant is a jewel, and we have recommended it to several friends... The food was delightful. Fresh and imaginative! The service was first class. We will return!"
